Pastel Accounting
ABOUT THE SHORT LEARNING PROGRAMMES
This short learning programme provides students with the skills required to create and keep a set of books within a small business environment. By using the Pastel accounting system bookkeepers will be able to administer and maintain an electronic set of books which will result in greater efficiency and accuracy.

- Those involved in keeping books for small to medium businesses.
- Bookkeepers who wish to gain the practical knowledge of electronic bookkeeping

CERTIFICATION
The Pastel Accounting Certificate is a short learning programme (SLP) that is certified by The Independent Institute.
Students enrolled in this short learning programme can apply, on successful completion, to be awarded credit for the equivalent full qualification module when registering for a full qualification with The Independent Institute of Education..
SHORT LEARNING PROGRAMMES
All programmes that are available through College Campus’s School of Business and Technology are short learning programmes (SLP’s) that have been specifically designed for working adults. These SLP’s differ from the full qualifications that are also available through College Campus and which are registered on the National Qualifications Framework. Before you register you must ensure that the programme that you select best suits your individual learning and workplace objectives.
PROGRAMME OUTLINE
- The installation of the Pastel Accounting Partner 2010 software
Introduction to Pastel
- The use and utilization of the system navigator
- How to set-up and create a new company within pastel
- Creating and editing the accounts and codes for a company and taking on an opening balance from other systems
Processing
- Processing orders and purchases for both the supplier and creditors
- How to use Pastel for sales in relation to customers and debtors
- Utilizing the Pastel cash book for payments/deposits and petty cash
- Compiling bank reconciliation and month-end reports
- General journals - adjustments
Inventory
- Inventory count and generation of reports
- Invoicing of credit/debit notes pertaining to the inventory
Financial reports
- Month and year end procedures

PROGRAMME MATERIAL
The programme fee includes all programme material which becomes the property of the student. This material constitutes a valuable source of on-going reference.
PROGRAMME EVALUATION
The programme assessment includes a group assignment, test and formal written examination at the end of the programme. Should a student fail to achieve the required mark, he/she may repeat the programme at no additional charge within 18 months of first registration (subject to certain conditions).
