Access Databases
ABOUT THE SHORT LEARNING PROGRAMME
Database skills are crucial to jobs in the IT industry – therefore it can be highly beneficial to learn to use and create databases in a business or personal environment. If you’re a non- programmer, this short introductory course will teach you to create visually pleasing and effective solutions on your own using MS Access. You will learn about database concepts and terminology and apply the theory by designing and creating a database to ensure efficient data storage, manipulation and maintenance.
WHO SHOULD ENROL FOR THE PROGRAMME
- Individuals with little or no development experience who wish to master the basic concepts of databases
- People who are required to set up basic databases and/or maintain existing Access databases.
CERTIFICATION
The Access Databases Certificate is a short learning programme (SLP), certified by The Independent Institute of Education (IIE). On successful completion, students can apply for credit for the equivalent full qualification module when registering for a full qualification with the IIE.

DURATION AND COMMENCEMENT DATES OF PROGRAMME
Classes are held on Saturday mornings over 11 weeks. Please check programme commencement dates.
PROGRAMME MATERIAL
The programme fee includes all programme material, which becomes the property of the student. This material is a valuable source of ongoing reference.
PROGRAMME EVALUATION
The programme assessment includes a test and formal written examination at the end of the programme.
SHORT LEARNING PROGRAMMES
All programmes offered by College Campus’s School of Business and Technology are short learning programmes (SLP) specifically designed for working adults. SLPs differ from full qualifications which are also available through College Campus and which are registered on the National Qualifications Framework. Before registering, you should ensure that the programme you’ve selected best suits your individual learning and career objectives.
