Office Computing
The purpose of this practical programme is to provide students with knowledge of a personal computer and how they operate. The programme will enable students to gather, process, present, distribute and manage information using the foundational features of MS Office which includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint as well as the Internet and Outlook. Once familiar with the different components of a computer like the keyboard, screen and mouse you will gain knowledge on the different applications of MS Office. The Word application will teach you how to create a document like a letter, customise it by using different themes and fonts as well as adding pictures to the document. The Excel application will allow you to do calculations, format the spread sheet with borders and look for information within the spread sheet. The PowerPoint application will allow you to create a presentation by adding words and pictures to the slides. The Internet will enable you to search for information on any topic. The Outlook application will allow you to send emails, save people’s contact details as well as manage a calendar, meetings and tasks.
Course Duration: 26 weeks on Saturday mornings.

This programme is presented at NQF level 5, with 20 potential academic credits.
