Certified Junior Bookkeeper (ICB)

The Certified Junior Bookkeeper programme provides students with sound foundational knowledge of accounting as well as practical exercises and evaluations that prepare them to function effectively in an accounting environment. This programme is the foundation of the Institute of Certified Bookkeepers (ICB) Accounting Certification Programme designed for people who want to become certified Bookkeepers. If you have a head for numbers, are working in a finance department, or want to have your own bookkeeping practice, this the right place to start.

Course Duration: 30 to 36 hours on Saturday mornings.

  • Introduction to basic business, bookkeeping and accounting

  • Measure, analyse and communicate workplace data

This module can be done as an individual course or as part of the Junior Bookkeeper Programme.

PAYROLL AND MONTHLY SARS RETURNS

  • Recording business financial transactions
  • VAT calculations and returns
  • Basic conditions of employment
  • Statutory registrations
  • Complete PAYE documentation
  • Accounting for payroll
  • Ethics and the registered tax practitioner

This module can be done as an individual course or as part of the Junior Bookkeeper Programme.

COMPUTERISED BOOKKEEPING

  • Basic computer concepts and working with Windows
  • Understanding the Internet and Microsoft Outlook ®
  • Working with MS Excel ®, MS Word ® and MS PowerPoint ®
  • Complete the monthly bookkeeping cycle on a computerised accounting package

This module can be done as an individual course or as part of the Junior Bookkeeper Programme.
